Welcome to My Den
30 Aug - 25 Sep 2025 A Sanctuary for Art, Stories, and New Beginnings
Unveil Gallery is proud to present Welcome to My Den, the final exhibition in our current space before we move into a new chapter, embracing a fresh model, an expanded vision, and more opportunities for artists and audiences alike.
The exhibition invites viewers into the “den” as a symbolic and physical space: a shelter of comfort and introspection, a cocoon for transformation, and a site of quiet confrontation with one’s own memories, fears, and hopes. Here, the gallery itself becomes a sanctuary, not only for art, but for human connection, storytelling, and the possibilities that lie ahead.
Welcome to My Den brings together seven artists whose practices span drawing, painting, textiles, installation, sculpture. Each transforms the gallery into a layered environment, offering intimate encounters and unexpected thresholds. Together, their works affirm the gallery’s role as a place where ideas can rest, shift, and grow.
Featured Artists
Hans B Wendel — is a Los Angeles–based architectural designer, artist, and educator whose work moves between architecture, art, and design. From contributing to high-profile projects such as Kanye West’s Yeezy domes to exhibiting in Buenos Aires and Los Angeles, Wendel bridges visionary spatial concepts with cultural narratives. His practice reflects a deep commitment to material exploration, collaborative making, and the poetics of built space.
Sheng Lor — is a Hmong textile artist whose sculptural and painterly works unravel memories, dreams, and folktales shaped by displacement and resilience. Born in a Thai refugee camp to parents who survived the Secret War in Laos, Lor translates hidden histories into patterned surfaces, engaging with both personal and collective trauma as sites of beauty, endurance, and transformation.
Maithili Chaturvedi — re-authors icons of Hindi cinema into intimate, pseudo-self-portraits that explore desire, performance, and the feminine gaze. Working with velvet to manipulate color and light, she transforms the cinematic Woman into a conduit for reflections on agency, spectacle, and self-mythology.
Sigrid Qian — constructs dreamlike thresholds between waking and unconscious states. Her layered oil paintings on canvas and fabric merge domestic familiarity with ethereal ambiguity, creating soft portals into spaces where memory, myth, and spirit converse.
Mahedi Anjuman — is a Bangladeshi-born, Los Angeles–based interdisciplinary artist and educator. Her sculptures, assemblages, and video works emerge from an intuitive engagement with context, examining the dualities of mind and body, self and other, through material presence and spatial negotiation.
Shuai Xu — works across painting, land art, sculpture, and installation to engage with presences that resist definition. By holding space for what remains unspoken or unseen, Xu creates perceptual environments where revelation and obscurity coexist, and the act of seeing is intentionally incomplete.
Álvaro Aguilar — is a multidisciplinary artist from Mexico City whose work investigates color, perception, and cultural commentary through painting and installation. Trained at the Centro de Arte Mexicano and with a background in both art practice and commercial strategy, Aguilar’s exhibitions span Mexico and abroad, earning him a nomination for Mexico’s National Prize for Arts and Literature in 2019.
A Closing that Opens
As our final exhibition in the current space, Welcome to My Den is both a reflection and an opening—a moment to honor the intimacy and experimentation nurtured here, while stepping into a future of expanded horizons. We invite you to linger in this den, to see it as a shared refuge for art, for connection, and for all that can yet emerge.

Porous Constructions
A Collaborative Group Exhibition with CAAN x Unveil Gallery 22 Jun - 6 Jul 2024 In collaboration with non-profit organization CAAN, Unveil Gallery is delighted to announce its upcoming group exhibition titled “Porous Constructions,” curated by Moham (Zhang) Wang. This exhibition features artworks across various mediums, including painting, sculpture, installation, photography, and video.
In physics, a porous medium is one that contains pores or voids, making the material a unique reagent to undergo special mechanisms. If we tentatively extend the concept of “medium” to “media,” one ought to ponder what it means for media to be porous— it is a media of everything that bridges the microscopic and the macroscopic by nature.
Porous Constructions is a curatorial project that uses curation as its primary methodology to explore the implications of “porosity,” especially in visual art and curatorial practice. Specifically, through manifold engagement with materials and media, artists transform their space and life into porous constructions, thus enabling new fundamental ways of understanding art and humanity. The network they create is stable and independent, yet open to channeling emotions and ideas. Therefore, our exhibition mirrors the porosity of contemporary life through that of material, body, and media. This provocative metaphor and symbol aim to facilitate cross-cultural connections and deepen ideational exchanges in an open and inclusive field.
The exhibition will run from June 22nd to July 6th, with an opening reception scheduled for June 22nd. Please join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. The exhibition will be on view through July 6th, 2024. Read more

Pillar to Post
The Solo Exhibition Featuring Catherine Menard 20 Apr - 8 Jun 2024 Irvine, CA - Unveil Gallery is thrilled to announce the debut solo exhibition of artist Catherine Menard, titled Pillar to Post. Building upon her established sculptural, performative, and experiential practices, Menard presents a compelling body of work that pushes boundaries and invites viewers to engage in profound exploration. The exhibition will run from April 20th to May 25th, with an opening reception scheduled for April 20th.
Catherine Menard is a Los Angeles based artist working across a range of media including video, performance, installation, painting, and sculpture. She often unites these elements to create site- specific and immersive environments that may amount to “total works.” Menard trained classically as a ballet dancer for over ten years, graduated from Idyllwild Arts Academy as a Theatre Performance major (2005) and received both her Bachelor of Science in Spatial Experience Design (2014) and Master of Fine Art (2023) from ArtCenter College of Design.
In considering the concept for the exhibition, the phrase "from pillar to post" resonated deeply with Menard, a phrase which means being moved from one distressing circumstance to another without purpose or improvement. Originating from medieval torture practices, this phrase first found its place in literature in an epic poem titled "The Assemble of Goddes," attributed to an anonymous woman author. Hoping to find unique inspiration from the poem, the artist found instead that the classical presentation of this council of gods and goddesses was simply a ploy to ultimately reinforce oppressive concepts like fear, guilt, and repentance.
Rather than finding hope or relief, the artist encountered our most infamous oppressor and the enduring symbol of the pillory. Turning then to philosopher Julia Kristeva's teachings on the catharsis of artmaking as an escape from existential and literal horrors, the artist aims to create a multisensory environment for the exhibition. Through performance, sound composition, and found-object sculpture, Menard recontextualizes and interrogates meanings, defiantly engaging with punitive symbols in an act of self-reflection and historical contemplation.
A Reception for Pillar to Post will be held on Saturday, Apr 20th, 2024, 5:00 – 8:00 PM. The exhibition will be on view through May 25th, 2024.
